GIETHOORN - Until the end of August 2026, the painting exhibition ‘Pronken met andermans veren’ can be visited at Museum Giethoorn ’t Olde Maat Uus, located at Binnenpad 52 in Giethoorn.
For generations, Giethoorn has attracted artists from across the Netherlands. In addition to local painters such as Hendrik Broer, Piet Zwiers and Dirk Twaalfhoven, many other artists found inspiration in the village’s waterways, farmhouses and characteristic landscape, capturing these scenes on canvas.
Using a variety of styles and techniques, artists created paintings and drawings of picturesque bridges, waterways and the wide natural surroundings. Many of these works are now owned by enthusiastic collectors of Giethoorn art. Over the years, local residents also purchased artworks by well-known fellow villagers, preserving familiar scenes of their beloved surroundings.
These collectors and art lovers are now sharing their special pieces with visitors to the museum. This inspired Museum Giethoorn to organise the exhibition ‘Pronken met andermans veren’ for the second time, proudly displaying artworks from private collections. Bronze sculptures by the Giethoorn artist Janno Petter are displayed in the showcase as well. The exhibition can be visited until the end of August 2026. The attached painting by Piet Zwiers is not included in the exhibition.
