GIETHOORN – The village of Giethoorn lies within the municipality of Steenwijkerland, in the province of Overijssel. It is surrounded by one of the Netherlands’ most unique landscapes — an area of 330 km² of water, reeds and woodland interspersed with small towns and villages. Roughly one-third is part of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, the largest wetland in north-western Europe. Giethoorn is the perfect base for exploring this remarkable area.
