GIETHOORN – Giethoorn, known as ‘the village without roads‘, has only waterways, walking or cycling paths in its old centre. Yet the 8-kilometre-long village is easily accessible by car or bus via the N334, with several exits leading to public and private car parks.
All official car parks are divided into three colour zones: Central (green), Middle (yellow) and South (red). They are located in or within walking distance of the historic village area.
• The green zone in the centre includes three large car parks such as P1 (around 250 spaces for cars and buses) and P2 – Meester Henkelplein, nearby the main canal.
• Visitors arriving from Meppel, Vollenhove or Zwartsluis first encounter the red zone (South) with 7 spacious parking areas.
• From Steenwijk or Blokzijl, follow the exit De Deukten at the yellow zone (Middle), P1-Binnenpad 14, at the main canal.
